As Usual, Times Treasure Hunt Ends with Lots of Winners

It was a fun night for all when The Times Treasure Hunt came to its end at the Diamondbacks game on June 26. Five treasure hunters, each who had found one of our hidden relics, and 15 of their guests enjoyed the festivities. The only sour note was the game itself, which was broken wide open when the Angels opened with a six-run first inning. The home team never recovered, but several Times readers hanging out in the suite didn’t even seem to notice.

Larry Quill likely had the most fun of all. Larry walked away with $1,000 in cash, which he chose over the other four prizes after the wheel stopped on the compass, the relic which Quill had found at the Heard Museum in May. The next spin landed on the rum bottle, and Tina Wood chose the 5-day cruise of the Mexican Riviera valued at over $1,500.

All in all, it was a great night as Times staffers got to meet a few of the die-hard treasure hunters. Jeff Quill, Larry’s brother, was in attendance and looked on as his brother took the grand prize. Jeff has been participating in The Times Treasure Hunt for more than five years and just recently got his brother involved. Jeff said he has been very close to finding the prize several times but was happy that if he wasn’t the winner at least somebody in the family took home the cash.

Thank you again to all who participated. The Times Treasure Hunt really is beginning to take on a life of its own. Based on the comments of some in attendance at the suite night, the next hunt promises to be, if nothing else, very competitive.

Pick up your copy of the August issue to learn more about the upcoming hunt. Clues will begin being released at the end of August. Full details will be available in the next issue.

As always, thank you for being a loyal reader of The Times. Tell your friends, enemies and even your in-laws they should be reading too!
